What is Bitcoin?
Bitcoin is the world's first decentralised digital currency, created in 2009 by the pseudonymous Satoshi Nakamoto. It operates on a blockchain - a distributed public ledger - with no central authority. Only 21 million Bitcoin will ever exist, making it inherently scarce and deflationary by design.
How Bitcoin Works
Bitcoin transactions are verified by a decentralised network of computers (miners) through Proof of Work. Each confirmed block of transactions is permanently added to the immutable blockchain. Users hold BTC in digital wallets secured by cryptographic keys  -no bank or intermediary required.
